Eating Out With Kids

Your Target Heart Rate

If you want to improve your fitness level, you need to work out within 50 – 85% of your maximum heart rate. If you can carry a conversation while you exercise, then you aren’t working too hard. If you can sing while exercising, you’re probably not working hard enough. Pace yourself if you have to stop to catch your breath. And, the number you’re looking for varies depending on your age. Visit the American Heart Association to determine your target and maximum heart rates and for other heart health tools.

Leaf Rubbings

Take a stroll through your favorite park or stretch of woods with a notebook and crayons to make leaf rubbings.
 1) Place leaf on a sheet of plain, white paper and cover with another sheet of the same type. 2) Peal the paper wrapping off of the crayons. 3) Turn the crayon sideways and rub diagonally over the paper, starting at the top left corner and ending in the bottom right. 4) Use the rubbings as garland or have the kids identify each leaf.

* Stash healthy snacks in the car
* Be a good role model

Tight and Loose

When you’re wearing a tight shirt, wear loose pants, and when wearing loose pants, wear a tight shirt. Loose with loose has the potential to make you look sloppy, and tight on tight can, at times, make you look a little too showy.
